A Bike Week in Riccione: Cycling Holiday Italy

Cycling Holiday Italy
I just completed a week of cycling in Riccione and what a week it was, a real cycling holiday Italy!  We moved along the coast for pleasant warm ups before moving inland to start our climbs.  The effort to climb a 3km or a 12km hill was well worth it as the views were spectacular, a post card at every turn.
The welcome stop at a small cafe for an espresso or cappuccino and pastry were very enjoyable, knowing that most of the hard work was done and the return trip would include several nice descents.  On two of the days, we rode and had lunch at country homes, enjoying delicious local foods including pasta, cheeses, cured and grilled meats, fresh vegetables, olive oils, balsamic vinegar, and of course, local vino.
Our guides were excellent, amazing how strong they were on the hills, regardless of their age, they were still able to push struggling riders up a hill.
The cycling was always interesting as we rode country roads with farms and beautiful vineyards, travelled through interesting villages with cobblestone streets and wonderful architechture, experiencing the daily life of the locals.  After each ride, we would go for a swim in the Adriatic which was very soothing and realxing.
My favourite rides were San Marino and Panorama, both challenging with fantastic scenery.  It was a wonderful week and I know I will be returning, bringing friends from home to enjoy a wonderful cycling holiday italy.
