Following the course of a river is a practical way to draw a territory and be able to approach and penetrate in Tuscany from an unusual direction, which allows you to take an exciting path to reach an isolated area where you can rest and refresh.
We will leave from Riccione by minibus, and after about 15 minutes, we will reach a town called Morciano di Romagna, where the cycling tour will begin along the first gravel roads and dirt tracks. We will flank the Conca River riding along its banks for the first 25 km, we will then enter the woods and climb towards Montecerignone and reach Carpegna, the most important town in the area, with its very ancient Ducal Palace, along dirt tracks with a few stretches of tarmacked road. From Carpegna a challenging and spectacular dirt track starts, which will lead us to cross the border into Tuscany, in the Sasso Simone and Simoncello Nature Reserve. A long fun descent will lead us towards the town of San Gianni, where we will have dinner, sampling the typical local food, and where we will spend the night.
On the second day, after a rich breakfast, we will start the climb towards Mount Carpegna and the town of Cippo di Carpegna. It is challenging and spectacular, and consists mostly of mountain tracks. When we reach the peak, we will admire the surrounding view that encompasses the Adriatic Coast to the east, and the mountains of the Apennines to the west. After a packed lunch provided by our minibus, we will begin the descent towards the valley, passing the towns of Montegrimano Terme and Montelicciano at the foot of Mount Titano, where the Republic of San Marino is located, and we will continue to descend towards Montescudo and Riccione. We will always be provided with packed lunches in places where we can be reached by our minibus.
