Urbino, Art, and Culture on Two Wheels
Our day begins early with a approximately 1-hour bus transfer from Riccione to Fossombrone, bringing our bikes along.
Starting in Fossombrone, after a brief visit to the town, we embark on our bike tour. The tour is an exhilarating adventure that weaves through the natural landscapes, history, and culture of the Marche region in Italy, passing through the Gola del Furlo, Acqualagna, Fermignano, and reaching Urbino.
The first leg of the tour takes us through the Gola del Furlo, a narrow gorge carved by the Metauro River, surrounded by impressive rock formations. This segment offers spectacular views and a direct connection with nature.
Next, we'll reach Acqualagna, renowned as the "truffle capital" of the Marche. Here, we can explore the picturesque village and, depending on the season, have the opportunity to taste the delicious local truffles.
Continuing the journey, we'll arrive in Fermignano, a charming medieval town with its historical and artistic heritage. Art enthusiasts can visit the Palazzo dei Principi, an important Renaissance residence.
Finally, the tour culminates in Urbino, a UNESCO city famous for its extraordinary artistic heritage, including the cathedral, the imposing Ducal Palace, and the birthplace of Raffaello Sanzio.
Urbino offers the chance to explore its medieval old town and admire art masterpieces around every corner.
Along the route, we'll stop for a refreshment break with a packed lunch consisting of cold pasta, rice, cold cuts, cheeses, and sweets prepared by the chef at the Hotel Dory!
